Zulum Declares Prayer Against Insurgency, to Rejig Local Security

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has made a heartfelt appeal to residents to come together in a show of solidarity and devotion, as the state grapples with persistent security challenges.

In a televised address, Zulum urged citizens to observe a day of contemplation and supplication, seeking a higher power’s intervention to bring peace and stability to the region.

The governor’s call to action is aimed at fostering a sense of community and resolve among residents, as they navigate the complexities of the current security landscape.

By inviting citizens to join him in a collective act of devotion, Zulum hopes to tap into the power of faith and unity to overcome the challenges facing the state.

While emphasizing the importance of spiritual reflection, Zulum also underscored the state government’s commitment to taking concrete steps to address the security threats.

He revealed that his administration is working closely with federal authorities to revamp the security framework and provide enhanced support to personnel.

Zulum expressed his appreciation for the assurances of support from President Bola Tinubu, who has pledged the federal government’s backing in overcoming the recent surge in attacks.

The governor also announced plans to reinforce local security initiatives, including strengthening volunteer forces and bolstering community intelligence gathering.

In addition to addressing security concerns, Zulum also touched on other pressing issues affecting the state, including a water crisis in parts of Maiduguri. He attributed the shortage to infrastructure damage caused by recent floods and assured residents that his administration is working tirelessly to restore the affected infrastructure.

The governor also announced the reconstitution of a committee tasked with tackling violent crimes and maintaining order in the metropolis.

He warned that his administration would not tolerate criminal elements destabilizing the progress being made in the state.
