Why I Call President Tinubu Joseph the Dreamer, Explains Umahi

Nigeria’s Minister of Works, David Umahi, has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as “Joseph the dreamer,” citing his visionary leadership and bold reforms as key indicators of a transformative agenda for the nation.

Umahi made the remark during a public engagement in Abuja, where he praised the President’s commitment to national development despite the challenges facing the country. Drawing a biblical reference, the former Governor of Ebonyi State likened Tinubu to the Old Testament figure Joseph, who, despite enduring hardship, rose to a position of influence and used his vision to save his people.

“I regard President Tinubu as Joseph the dreame. He is a man with a clear vision, a leader who is undeterred by the present economic trials because he sees a future where Nigeria is prosperous, united, and respected globally,” Umahi said.

According to Umahi, Tinubu’s policies, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, economic reform, and national integration, reflect a deep sense of purpose and strategic foresight.

The Minister highlighted ongoing road construction projects and other capital developments across the country as signs of the administration’s resolve to address decades of neglect.

“Just like Joseph, who held on to his dreams until they came to pass, President Tinubu is holding firm to his vision for Nigeria. The journey may be tough, but his dream is alive, and Nigerians will soon begin to reap the benefits,” Umahi added.

The statement comes amid mixed reactions to the Tinubu administration’s sweeping reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidies and efforts to stabilize the national currency. While supporters commend the President’s courage and long-term focus, critics argue that the immediate economic strain on citizens remains a serious concern.

Despite this, Umahi urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and patient, assuring that the administration is laying a solid foundation for sustainable growth and development.

“Great nations are built by dreamers who refuse to quit in the face of adversity. President Tinubu is such a dreamer,” Umahi concluded.
