Akpabio Insinuates APC will Take Over Akwa Ibom in Future Elections

In a bold prediction, the Senate President, Godwill Akpabio, has declared that the political landscape of Akwa Ibom State will undergo a significant transformation by the 2027 general elections.

According to him, the traditional party structures will cease to exist, paving the way for a unified front.

Speaking at a midterm empowerment briefing in Ikot Ekpene, Akpabio asserted that the dominant party in the state, the Peoples Democratic Party, has lost its cohesion and can no longer provide protection to its members.

This, he claimed, has led to a collapse of party affiliations, with supporters coalescing around individual candidates rather than parties.

Akpabio, who represents Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District, revealed that a total of 1,690 beneficiaries received empowerment items, including vehicles, machinery, and household appliances, during the event. He seized the opportunity to endorse Governor Umo Eno for re-election in 2027, describing him as a peaceful and God-fearing leader.

Furthermore, Akpabio expressed his confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s leadership and announced his own intention to seek re-election to the Senate. The Senate President’s remarks suggest that Akwa Ibom State is poised for a seismic shift in its political dynamics, with traditional party loyalties giving way to a more personalized and issue-driven approach to politics.
