Kidnappers of Adepoyigi Take Two More People Who Went to Deliver Ransom Hostage

Abductors of Nelson Adepoyigi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Ward 5 of Ondo State’s Ose Local Government Area, have taken two more individuals hostage.

Bayode Loco and Isimeri, who had attempted to deliver a ransom for Adepoyigi’s release, are now being held by the kidnappers, who are demanding an additional 30 million naira for their freedom.

Adepoyigi was initially kidnapped on Monday while entering his farm along the Ifon-Owo Road, sending shockwaves throughout the local community.

The kidnappers had initially demanded a hefty 100 million naira ransom, which was later negotiated down to 5 million naira and food items.

However, the situation took a disturbing turn when Loco and Isimeri, who had volunteered to deliver the reduced ransom, were also taken captive by the kidnappers.

According to a family source, the kidnappers are now holding all three individuals hostage and are refusing to release them until their new demands are met.

The Ondo State Police Command has denied any knowledge of the ransom negotiations or the new abductions, with Public Relations Officer DSP Olushola Ayanlade stating that the police are focused on rescuing the victims and have not been informed of any ransom dealings.

Meanwhile, Ose Local Government Chairman Kolapo Ojo has expressed concern over the unfolding events, confirming that the ransom had been reduced to 5 million naira and food items during negotiations.

He appealed for calm and assured that security efforts are being intensified to rescue the hostages.

The incident highlights the growing insecurity in rural areas of Ondo State, where kidnappings for ransom have become a persistent threat. Residents are calling for increased government action and more proactive security operations to stem the tide of abductions. As of now, Adepoyigi, Loco, and Isimeri remain in captivity, with their families and the community holding out hope for their safe release.
