You Must Appear within 24 Hours Before us to Explain Fire Truck Accident or…
The House of Representatives has given the Controller-General (CG) of the Federal Fire Service (FES), Mr. Jaji Abdulganiyu, a 24-hour ultimatum to appear before the House and explain the circumstances surrounding the fatal fire truck accident that occurred in Abuja last Friday.
The accident, which claimed the lives of three people and injured several others, has sparked widespread outrage and concern over the safety and maintenance of fire trucks in the country.
The ultimatum was issued by the Minority Whip, Hon. Ali Jesse, in Abuja, after the CG failed to honour an earlier invitation to appear before the House.
According to Hon. Jesse, the CG’s failure to appear is unacceptable, especially given the gravity of the incident.
“We are giving the Controller-General 24 hours to appear before this House and explain what happened.
“The accident was a tragic incident that could have been avoided if proper measures were in place. We need to get to the bottom of this and ensure that those responsible are held accountable,” Hon. Jesse said.
The House is demanding that the CG provide a detailed explanation of the events leading up to the accident, including the condition of the fire truck, the training and certification of the drivers, and the emergency response procedures in place.
The accident, which occurred on Friday, involved a fire truck that was responding to an emergency call.
The truck lost control and crashed, resulting in the deaths of three people and injuring several others.
The incident has raised concerns over the safety and maintenance of fire trucks in the country, as well as the training and certification of fire service personnel.
The House of Representatives is seeking to ensure that measures are put in place to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
The 24-hour ultimatum issued to the CG is seen as a strong signal that the House is committed to getting to the bottom of the incident and holding those responsible accountable.
If the CG fails to appear before the House within the stipulated timeframe, it is likely that further action will be taken, including the possibility of a warrant for his arrest.
As the clock ticks down, all eyes are on the CG and the Federal Fire Service to see how they will respond to the ultimatum and address the concerns of the House of Representatives.
