FIRS Chairman Inaugurates FIRS/RMAFC Joint Technical Committee

In a move to optimize Nigeria’s revenue generation capacity, the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Dr. Zacch Adedeji, has hosted a high-level delegation from the Internal Revenue Monitoring Committee (IRMC), a crucial sub-committee of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), at the FIRS Headquarters in Abuja.

The meeting, held in a spirit of mutual cooperation, centered on the imperative for sustained collaboration between the two key government agencies. Dr. Adedeji, in his address, underscored the pivotal role of this synergy in fortifying Nigeria’s financial architecture and driving sustainable economic growth.

“Our shared mandate as revenue-generating institutions places a significant responsibility on us to ensure optimal revenue performance, which is fundamental to achieving our national development objectives,” Dr. Adedeji emphasised.

He further highlighted that “this partnership is not merely desirable but absolutely essential for aligning our strategic approaches and effectively addressing any existing gaps in our revenue mobilization efforts.”

A key highlight of the engagement was the formal inauguration of the FIRS Sub-Technical Committee on RMAFC by Dr. Adedeji.

This newly established committee comprises a blend of experienced professionals from both the RMAFC and the FIRS management teams.

Its core mandate revolves around fostering deeper technical cooperation, streamlining the exchange of crucial data, and enhancing overall operational alignment between the two agencies.

The visit of the IRMC delegation, led by a senior official of the RMAFC, signals a renewed commitment to strengthening the mechanisms for revenue monitoring and mobilization across all tiers of government in Nigeria.

This collaborative effort is widely seen as a proactive step towards enhancing fiscal responsibility and ensuring that government resources are effectively harnessed for the benefit of all Nigerians.
