NFF Partners with Ogun to Host Football Matches in State

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has sealed a strategic partnership with Ogun State Government to host football matches and events, aimed at strengthening the football economy and supporting the country’s bid to create a vibrant sports economy.

The partnership was formalized on Sunday in Abeokuta, the state capital, when the NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun.

Ogun State, known for its excellent infrastructure and serene environment, has a rich history of hosting high-profile football matches, including matches of the national teams and major tournaments such as the FIFA U17 World Cup finals in 2009.

The state has also played host to Confederation of African Football club competitions.

Recently, the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo, built by billionaire football investor and philanthropist, Hon. Kunle Soname, has hosted matches of the senior women national team, Super Falcons, and the U17 girls, Flamingos.

The partnership is expected to further boost football development in the state and the country at large, while also contributing to the growth of the sports economy..

The collaboration is in line with the New Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which aims to create a vibrant sports economy in Nigeria.

With this partnership, Ogun State is poised to become a hub for football development in Nigeria, hosting more national and international matches, and providing a platform for Nigerian footballers to showcase their talents.

The NFF and Ogun State Government have pledged to work together to ensure the success of the partnership, which is expected to have a positive impact on the football economy and the state’s economy as a whole.
