Governor Fubara Eats the Humble Pie,. Publicly Apologizes to Wike, Seeks Reconciliation
Suspended Rivers State, Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has issued a public apology to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Hon. Nyesom Wike, acknowledging past missteps and expressing a desire for reconciliation.
The apology, which came through a heartfelt public statement on Tuesday, marked a significant reversal in what had become a deeply fractured relationship between the former allies.
“I apologize to my oga, Honorable Minister Nyesom Wike. I was misled by hungry so-called elders, aides, and supporters. They kept pushing me until I nearly lost my soul.
“I am wiser now and ready to work with my lifetime oga to make Rivers work,” Fubara said.
Fubara, who succeeded Wike as governor, admitted that Wike was instrumental in his political rise, stating, “My oga helped me get to the Government House. I was nobody until he assisted me, and I disappointed him. I am sorry.”
The relationship between the two political heavyweights had deteriorated following a series of political disagreements and power tussles, with both camps locked in a protracted standoff that threatened governance in the state.
The apology appears to be an olive branch extended by the governor in an effort to mend fences and restore stability.
Political observers say the statement could mark the beginning of a renewed alliance or a strategic move by Fubara amid growing pressure from within and outside the state.
As of the time of this report, Minister Wike has not officially responded to the governor’s apology.
However, the development is already generating reactions across political and public spheres, with many watching closely to see what comes next in Rivers State’s unfolding political drama.
