APC Hammers Former Rep, Nine Others in Kebbi Over Anti-Party Activities
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State has taken disciplinary action against 10 of its members, including a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Bello Yakubu.
The party announced their suspension following allegations of anti-party activities during the 2023 general elections.
The suspended individuals were accused of working against the success of APC candidates in both state and national elections. According to the state APC chairman, Abubakar Kana Zuru, the party constituted a disciplinary committee to investigate the roles of some members in the party’s underwhelming performance in certain areas during the last polls.
The committee’s findings, presented before the party’s executive council, recommended the suspension of the affected members for acts deemed to undermine the party’s integrity, unity, and electoral chances.
The officials affected include local government party leaders, ward chairmen, and other grassroots mobilizers accused of supporting opposition candidates or sabotaging APC’s campaigns.
Kana Zuru stated that the decision was aimed at restoring discipline and party loyalty ahead of future political engagements.
He emphasized that the APC in Kebbi would not tolerate actions that threaten its internal cohesion or electoral success.
The suspended members have been directed to refrain from participating in all party activities until further notice.
The party has also hinted at possible further sanctions depending on future investigations.
This move marks a broader attempt by the APC to cleanse its ranks and consolidate its position in Kebbi, a state traditionally considered one of its strongholds.
