Troops Kill 5 Terrorists, Free 38 Family Members in Borno State

Troops of the 21 Special Armoured Brigade, operating under Operation Hadin Kai, have successfully killed five terrorists and rescued 38 family members of fleeing insurgents in the Geizua area of Borno State.
The clearance operation, which was conducted in collaboration with Hybrid Forces and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), was part of the ongoing Operation Desert Sanity IV.
The operation targeted known terrorist hideouts in the Shehutari and Churchur axis of Bama Local Government Area, with the aim of dismantling terrorist networks and restoring peace in the Northeast.
According to a reliable military source, the operation commenced at 8 a.m. on May 8, 2025, with troops advancing from their harbour location and clearing several camps, many of which were found abandoned.
During the mission, the soldiers encountered fleeing insurgents and engaged them in a firefight, resulting in the elimination of five terrorists.
In a separate encounter, troops intercepted 38 individuals, comprising 17 adult women and 21 children, who were identified as family members of the insurgents. The individuals were taken into custody for profiling and further investigation.
The successful operation marks another milestone in the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in the Northeast.
