Kebbi State Government Releases N266 Million for Their Students Tuition in India

Kebbi State Government has announced the release of over ₦266 million for the payment of tuition fees for 100 students of Kebbi origin studying in India.
According to the Kebbi State Commissioner for Higher Education, Isah Tunga, the state government, under the leadership of Governor Nasir Idris, has approved and released the payment of tuition fees totaling ₦266,964,560 for the students studying in various universities in India.
Tunga, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Hussaini Tata, described the efforts of the governor as a significant step towards taking education to greater heights in the state. He noted that the ministry remains indebted to the governor for his commitment to promoting academic and moral excellence in the tertiary education sector.
“The Kebbi State Government, under the able leadership of Governor Nasir Idris, the education promoter, has approved and released the payment of tuition fees of ₦266,964,560 for the 100 students of Kebbi State indigenes studying in various universities in India,” Tunga said.
The commissioner urged the citizens of the state to continue to pray for the continued progress of the present administration, stating that the governor’s efforts towards promoting education will go down in the annals of history.
In a related development, the first batch of 420 pilgrims from Kebbi State departed for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage on Friday evening via a direct flight to Madinah, Saudi Arabia. The pilgrims, who were seen off by the Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Umar Tafida, and other top government officials, were issued their Basic Travel Allowance (BTA) in cash as part of the seamless arrangements made for the exercise.
The Deputy Governor, who represented Governor Nasir Idris, commended the governor for his unwavering support, which ensured the early and smooth commencement of the Hajj airlift through the provision of financial and logistical support to the Pilgrims Welfare Agency.
The Amirul Hajj and Emir of Argungu, Sama’ila Mera, confirmed that all arrangements for the airlift of Kebbi’s 3,800 pilgrims have been completed, including the issuance of passports, visas, and BTA for pilgrims from the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.
“A total of 420 pilgrims, evenly split between males and females, were airlifted in the maiden flight,” the Emir stated.
The Executive Chairman of the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Faruq Yaro, disclosed that the airlift would proceed in eight uninterrupted flights until all pilgrims have been successfully transported to the Holy Land.
The departure of the pilgrims marks the beginning of the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage for Kebbi State, and the government has assured that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth and successful exercise.
