Labour Party Chieftain, Arabambi Hints at Expulsion of Peter Obi, Alex Otti, and Others

A prominent member of the Labour Party (LP), Abayomi Arabambi, has revealed that the party’s former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, may face expulsion from the party during its upcoming National Convention.
Arabambi made this statement in an interview with TVC, where he accused Obi and Otti of causing internal conflicts within the party.
Arabambi described Obi, Otti, and others as “selfish Nigerians” who are prioritizing their personal interests over the party’s well-being. He emphasized that the party will not tolerate their actions and that a National Convention is the only solution to restoring peace and stability within the party.
Arabambi also addressed the recent controversy surrounding the party’s leadership, stating that the Supreme Court never removed Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the party. He dismissed allegations made by Nenadi Usman, the Chairman of the party’s Caretaker Committee, as baseless and motivated by personal gain.
The LP has been embroiled in a leadership crisis, with Abure’s suspension by a faction of the party and the subsequent suspension of Otti, Senator Ireti Kingibe, and four others by Abure’s faction. Arabambi hinted that these suspensions may be followed by expulsions, stating that the party will take decisive action against those who are causing divisions and undermining its integrity.
Arabambi launched a personal attack on Nenadi Usman, describing her as the “Headmistress of Corruption” and accusing her of leveling false allegations against Abure. He pointed out that Usman is currently standing trial for corruption and is negotiating a plea bargain, rendering her accusations against Abure as hypocritical.
The Labour Party’s internal conflicts and power struggles continue to escalate, with no clear resolution in sight. The upcoming National Convention is expected to be a pivotal moment in the party’s history, with far-reaching consequences for its leadership and direction.
