Kwankwaso Bemoans Defection of NNPP Members to APC, Calls it “Highest Form of Betrayal
Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, the national leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and former Governor of Kano State, has strongly condemned the defection of top New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) members in Kano to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Kwankwaso accused the defectors of abandoning the ideals and loyalty of the movement, describing their actions as a “political sin” of the highest order.
Speaking to a gathering of supporters from Takai Local Government Area who remained loyal to the NNPP, Kwankwaso expressed his disappointment and frustration with the defection of Senator Abdulrahman Kawu and several federal lawmakers from the state to the APC.
He noted that the people of Kano South had rejected the APC’s tactics of buying votes with money and gifts, only for their elected representatives to betray their trust by joining the same party.
Kwankwaso said, “The people of Kano South made a conscious decision to vote for the NNPP, rejecting the APC’s attempts to buy their votes with spaghetti, N200 notes, and wrappers. But unfortunately, those who were elected on the NNPP platform have now abandoned the masses and joined the APC, a party that only cares about the interests of its leaders and their families.”
He commended the supporters who remained loyal to the NNPP, describing their decision as a reaffirmation of their loyalty to the Kwankwasiyya movement. Kwankwaso also warned that those who had defected to the APC would eventually regret their actions, saying,
“There is no worse political sin than leaving the party that gave you the opportunity and support, only to abandon it later. This is the highest level of betrayal, and they will come to realize their mistake in due time.”
