I’m Not A Cultist, Edo State Deputy Governor Denies Allegations, Threatens Legal Action

I’m Not A Cultist, Edo State Deputy Governor Denies Allegations, Threatens Legal Action

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Dennis Idahosa, has vehemently denied allegations of cultism levelled against him, describing the claims as “spurious, defamatory, malicious, unfounded, and grossly misleading.”

Idahosa’s denial comes in response to a viral video shared by one Emmanuel Agbogun, who alleged that the deputy governor and other notable figures from Edo State were involved in different cult factions.

In a statement personally signed by him on Friday, Idahosa debunked the claims, stating that he has never been a member of any cult group.

He described the accusations as a deliberate attempt to tarnish his hard-earned reputation and undermine his dedication to public service.

Idahosa argued that the allegations were not only false but also an attempt to distract from the current administration’s efforts to combat cultism in the state.

“These allegations also seek to distract this administration’s ongoing efforts to combat cultism and restore peace and order in Edo State,” he said.

The deputy governor maintained that he has always upheld the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability in serving the people of Edo State and Nigeria at large.

He vehemently denied any involvement, past or present, in cult-related activities, stating, “The claim that I am affiliated with any secret cult group is entirely false and baseless.”

Idahosa described the publication as a direct attack on his character and vowed to seek legal redress. “Let me again reiterate that I consider this publication not only slanderous but also a direct attack on my character,” he said. “I will not treat it lightly and will pursue all legal avenues to ensure that such defamation is addressed within the full extent of the law.”

The deputy governor’s denial and threat of legal action come as the Edo State government continues to grapple with the issue of cultism in the state. The government has been working to combat the menace and restore peace and order in the state. Idahosa’s statement is a clear indication that he will not tolerate any attempts to tarnish his reputation or undermine his efforts to serve the people of Edo State.
