Ganduje Hints One Party State Likely, Cites China Experience

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has expressed his support for a potential one-party system in Nigeria.
Ganduje made this statement on Friday after leading a delegation of three senators from Kebbi State to meet with President Bola Tinubu.
The three senators, Adamu Aliero, Yahaya Abdullahi, and Garba Maidoki, who are currently members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), reportedly announced their intention to defect to the APC.
When asked about the implications of the recent wave of opposition politicians joining the ruling party, Ganduje cited China as an example of a successful one-party system.
According to Ganduje, a one-party system is not necessarily imposed, but rather a result of other parties recognizing the effectiveness of the ruling party’s governance.
“If they decide to join our party willingly, I don’t see anything wrong with that. As the saying goes, ‘too many cooks spoil the soup’ – too many political parties can hinder good governance,” he said.
Ganduje’s comments come as the APC continues to attract defectors from other parties. The three senators from Kebbi State are expected to formalize their defection on Tuesday, with Ganduje urging the public to witness the event in the Senate chambers.
President Tinubu has reportedly given his blessing to the senators’ decision to join the APC.
