Commission Lands 1,622 Nigerian Pilgrims in Madinah for 2025 Hajj

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced that a total of 1,622 Nigerian pilgrims have been successfully transported to Madinah for the 2025 hajj.

 

The inaugural flight was declared open by Vice President Kashim Shettima in Owerri, Imo State on Friday.

 

According to a statement released by the Principal Information Officer, NAHCON, Shafii Mohammed, three designated Nigerian hajj air carriers, namely MaxAir, Flynas, and Air Peace, recorded a total of four flights from various states in Nigeria.

 

The flights departed from Bauchi, Kebbi, Imo, and Lagos states, carrying pilgrims and officials to the holy city of Madinah.

 

The first flight, MaxAir VM3001, departed from Bauchi at 11:53 hours, carrying 539 pilgrims and six officials. This was followed by Flynas flight XY8066, which departed from Kebbi at 18:29 hours, carrying 420 pilgrims and one official.

 

The inaugural flight, Air Peace APK 7900, departed from Owerri at 19:36 hours, carrying 240 pilgrims and four officials.

 

Vice President Shettima was on hand to declare the flight open, marking the beginning of the 2025 hajj operations.

 

Another flight, Flynas XY8016, departed from Lagos at 19:39 hours, carrying 423 Osun pilgrims.

 

The successful transportation of the pilgrims is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the NAHCON team, as well as the cooperation of the air carriers and other stakeholders.

 

“We are pleased to announce that the 2025 hajj operations have commenced successfully,” said Shafii Mohammed. “We have worked tirelessly to ensure that all necessary arrangements are in place to facilitate a smooth and safe journey for our pilgrims. We are committed to providing the best possible services to our pilgrims and ensuring that they have a meaningful and spiritual experience during their time in Saudi Arabia.”

 

The 2025 hajj is expected to attract thousands of Nigerian pilgrims, who will travel to Saudi Arabia to perform the sacred rites. The NAHCON has assured that all necessary arrangements are in place to ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of the pilgrims during their journey.
