Tinubu Submits Nominees for Development Commissions to Senate for Confirmation

President Bola Tinubu has forwarded a request to the Senate seeking confirmation of nominees for the South-West, North-Central, and South-South Development Commissions.
The nominees, totaling 55, were submitted in a letter to the National Assembly, and the Senate is expected to refer the nominations to the relevant committees for screening and confirmation.
The nominees for the North-Central Development Commission include Cosmas Akiyir as Chairman and Cyril Yeltsin as Managing Director, along with 17 other members. For the South-West Development Commission, Senator Olubunmi Adetunbi has been proposed as Chairman, with Dr. Charles Akinola as Managing Director, and 16 other nominees.
The South-South Development Commission has 18 nominees, with Chibudom Nwuche nominated as Chairman and Usoro Offiong Akpabio as Managing Director. The nominees bring a wealth of experience and expertise to their respective commissions, and their confirmation is expected to strengthen the development of their regions.
One of the notable nominees is Dr. Charles Akinola, who has been proposed as the Managing Director of the South-West Development Commission. Dr. Akinola is an alumnus of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and a Fellow of the Weatherhead Centre for International Affairs, Harvard University.
He has a strong background in innovation for economic development and has worked with various organizations, including the Osun State Government, where he served as Chief of Staff to Governor Gboyega Oyetola.
Dr. Akinola has also founded and led Enterprise for Development International (EfDI), a development sector market leader based in Lagos, Nigeria.
He has worked as the Country Director of TechnoServe, a US-based international development agency, and has advised on international development cooperation agreements and protocols as the Director General of the Office of Economic Development and Partnerships in Osun State.
The confirmation of these nominees is expected to be a significant step forward in the development of the regions, and the Senate is expected to carefully consider their qualifications and experience before making a decision.
