Omoworare Joins Osun 2026 Governorship Bid

The race for the 2026 Osun State governorship election has officially taken a new turn with the formal declaration of Senator Babajide Omoworare, a former Senior Special Assistant to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters, to contest under the All Progressives Congress (APC) banner.

In a well-attended event that marked the beginning of his campaign, Omoworare also inaugurated a mobilization team tasked with the responsibility of coordinating grassroots engagement across all 30 local government areas of the state.

The move is seen as a strategic effort to build a strong support base and ensure a broad reach for his campaign.

The declaration ceremony was attended by a cross-section of party chieftains, youth leaders, market representatives, and community heads, who expressed their strong support for Omoworare’s candidacy.

They described him as a popular figure with the capacity to deliver victory for the APC in the forthcoming election.

In his address, Senator Omoworare thanked his supporters for their backing and praised the efforts of the newly inaugurated coordination teams. He reiterated his commitment to inclusive governance, emphasizing his vision for a greater Osun that prioritizes the welfare and development of all citizens.

A key plank of Omoworare’s campaign is his focus on food sufficiency, which he plans to achieve by revitalizing Osun’s farm settlements, rehabilitating dams to support irrigation, promoting fish farming, and boosting agricultural exports.

This approach is expected to resonate with the state’s agricultural community and contribute to the overall economic development of Osun.

Omoworare also called for a peaceful and issue-based campaign, urging party members to eschew divisive rhetoric and unite around a common vision for the state’s progress.

“I am a good product,” he stated confidently. “Let us focus on selling the vision we share for a greater Osun.”

The launch of Omoworare’s campaign and the inauguration of his mobilization team mark a significant milestone in the buildup to the 2026 Osun State governorship election. As the APC and other political parties begin to take shape, the stage is set for a competitive and potentially transformative electoral process in the state.

With Omoworare’s entry into the race, the election is expected to gain more momentum, with issues of governance, development, and leadership set to take center stage.

As the campaign unfolds, citizens of Osun State will be looking forward to engaging with the candidates and their visions for the state’s future.

In the coming weeks and months, Senator Omoworare and his team are expected to embark on a series of rallies, town hall meetings, and community engagements to sell his vision and policies to the people of Osun State.

With his experience in national politics and his commitment to grassroots engagement, Omoworare is poised to make a strong impression in the election.

As the Osun 2026 governorship election draws near, one thing is clear: the people of the state are yearning for a leader who can deliver on the promises of good governance, economic development, and social welfare.

With Senator Babajide Omoworare now in the race, the contest for the state’s top job has become even more interesting, and the stage is set for a keenly contested election that will determine the future of Osun State.
