FG to Set Up Child Protection Agency, Vows Safeguard of Nigerian Children

President Bola Tinubu has announced plans to establish a Child Protection and Development Agency.

This new agency will be responsible for coordinating all issues affecting children in a unified and focused manner, ensuring that their dignity and future are protected.

Speaking at the first regional meeting of the Africa Pathfinder Countries of the Global Alliance on Ending Violence Against Children, held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, President Tinubu reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to safeguarding the rights and interests of every Nigerian child.

The President was represented at the event by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

The establishment of the Child Protection and Development Agency is a concrete step towards addressing the various challenges faced by children in Nigeria, including violence, abuse, and exploitation.

The agency will provide a centralized platform for coordinating efforts to prevent and respond to these issues, ensuring that children receive the protection and support they need to thrive.

President Tinubu’s announcement has been welcomed as a positive development by child rights advocates, who have long called for a more coordinated approach to addressing the complex challenges faced by children in Nigeria.

The establishment of the Child Protection and Development Agency is expected to mark a significant turning point in the country’s efforts to ensure that every child has access to a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment.
