Soludo Charges Tinubu to Unite, Lead Progressives for a Better Nigeria

Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to stay the course and unite all progressive forces in Nigeria to achieve a better future for the country.

Governor Soludo made this appeal during President Tinubu’s visit to Anambra State to commission several projects, including the Umueri-Ekwulobia road, the Anambra State International Cargo Airport, and the Onitsha River Port.

In his speech, Governor Soludo thanked President Tinubu for appointing several individuals from Anambra State into his administration, including Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Mark Okoye as Managing Director of the Southeast Development Commission. He also commended the President for his Pan-African disposition, citing his appointment of an Anambra son, Ben Akabueze, as Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget in Lagos State during his tenure as Governor.

Governor Soludo expressed his gratitude for the federal government’s support for Anambra State, particularly in the areas of education, health, ICT, agriculture, infrastructure, and social interventions. He noted that the state has benefited from several federal programs, including the Primary Health Care National Challenge, for which Anambra State was awarded $500,000 as Southeast Regional Champion and $700,000 as National Champion in 2024.

However, Governor Soludo also highlighted the need for further federal intervention in critical areas such as erosion control, gas development, and road infrastructure.

He appealed to President Tinubu to address these challenges, citing the state’s vulnerability to erosion and the need for a national gas master plan that includes the Southeast region.

The Governor emphasized the importance of unity among progressives in Nigeria, stating that it is time for all federalists and parties with social, democratic, centrist, and left or center credentials to come together and advance the cause of a united and progressive Nigeria.

He urged President Tinubu to lead this movement, given his position as the leader of the largest progressive party in Nigeria.

Governor Soludo thanked President Tinubu for his historic visit to Anambra State and expressed his hope that the President’s administration will succeed and excel in its endeavors.

He also invited the President to return to the state soon, noting that the presidential lodge is ready to receive him.

The event marked a significant milestone in the relationship between Anambra State and the federal government, with both parties committing to work together to achieve a better future for Nigeria.
