APGA May Ally with Tinubu’s Camp Ahead of 2027 as Soludo Hints of Strategic Collaborations
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is exploring potential alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Anambra State Governor and party leader, Professor Charles Soludo, indicating that the party is open to working with other political platforms that align with its progressive ideals.
Speaking during the APGA National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja, Governor Soludo stressed that the party remains committed to forging a united front with like-minded entities to rebuild Nigeria. Though no formal endorsement was made, his remarks have sparked speculation about a possible alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“APGA remains ready to extend a hand of fellowship to any party that professes true progressive ideology in order to join hands to rebuild Nigeria,” Soludo declared.
Soludo also used the platform to commend President Tinubu for appointing Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu, widow of the late Biafran leader and APGA founder Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
He described the appointment as a demonstration of national inclusiveness and respect for APGA’s legacy.
While the statement fell short of an official adoption of President Tinubu as APGA’s candidate for 2027, analysts say the move reflects a shift in the party’s strategy—positioning itself for greater influence in the national political space.
The 2027 general elections are expected to be fiercely contested, and APGA’s openness to alliances may signal broader realignments in the country’s political structure. As the election season draws closer, all eyes will be on APGA to see whether it maintains its independent stance or formally joins forces with the APC.
