Nasarawa Governor Claims Tinubu’s Performance Attracting Opposition Defectors to APC

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s performance in office for the growing wave of defections from opposition parties to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking on Tuesday, Governor Sule stated that Nigerians were becoming increasingly drawn to the APC due to what he described as the visible and impactful leadership of President Tinubu.

He noted that several recent government initiatives, including the revitalization of the Warri and Port Harcourt refineries, have begun yielding results, restoring public confidence in the APC-led administration.

“The APC is gaining strength as more individuals recognize the impactful decisions made by President Tinubu.

“This is why people from the PDP, Labour Party, and other opposition parties are joining our ranks,”Governor Sule said.

Supporting the governor’s remarks, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Uche Nnaji, also highlighted the recent influx of defectors into the party as a sign of growing national support for Tinubu’s administration.

According to Nnaji, the defections are not just political moves but demonstrations of public endorsement of the government’s policies and direction.

In Nasarawa State alone, over 2,000 individuals, many from the Bassa ethnic group and previously aligned with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP), recently defected to the APC.

The governor formally welcomed them and assured that they would be treated equally within the party.

“We are one family in the APC. There is no new or old member—we are united under one vision of progress for Nigeria,” Sule said during the reception ceremony.

Addressing speculations about a potential opposition merger ahead of the 2027 general elections, the governor dismissed any concerns, maintaining that the APC remains unshaken and confident in its national appeal.

“The APC is solid. We are not worried about opposition alliances. Our focus is on delivering results and improving lives,” Sule asserted.

As preparations for the 2027 elections begin to gather momentum, the APC appears to be consolidating its base, with President Tinubu’s performance serving as a catalyst for realignment within Nigeria’s political land
