Atiku Isah: The Kangaroo NANS President Apologizes to Seyi Tinubu

In a surprising development, Atiku Isah, the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has publicly withdrawn his previous accusations against Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu. In a statement shared on his Facebook account, Isah expressed regret for the defamatory claims he made about Seyi Tinubu, which had circulated widely on social media.
Isah stated that his prior claims alleging that Seyi Tinubu had kidnapped and assaulted him were entirely untrue and were encouraged by Ladoja Olusola, who had aimed to undermine his position as NANS President. He asserted that Olusola had misled him with falsehoods and partial truths regarding Seyi Tinubu, warning him that Tinubu could have him killed and might leverage his influence to conceal the situation.
The initial charges made by Isah incited significant public anger and calls for Seyi Tinubu’s arrest and legal action. However, in his recent announcement, Isah admitted to being duped by Olusola’s deceitful narratives and acknowledged that he had acted impetuously without corroborating the facts.
“I was misled by Ladoja Olusola’s falsehoods, and I reacted based on emotions without confirming the evidence,” Isah stated in his announcement. “I now retract my previous accusations against Seyi Tinubu and apologize for any harm or distress my comments may have caused to him and his family.”
Isah also refuted claims that Seyi Tinubu had incited thugs to disrupt his inauguration, clarifying that he learned Seyi Tinubu was not even present at the event.
This incident raises concerns regarding the reliability of social media and the necessity for fact-checking in an era riddled with misinformation. It also underscores the significance of accountable leadership and the risks that come with allowing personal interests to cloud one’s judgment.
As this controversy subsides, it is evident that Seyi Tinubu’s reputation has been restored, and the NANS President has gained an important insight into the necessity of fact verification before making public accusations.
