Iyabo Ojo Honours EFCC Invitation, Quizzed About Cash Spraying at Daughter’s Wedding

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, fondly referred to as the Queen Mother, has opened up about her recent encounter with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following an official invitation. The actress took to her Instagram page on Tuesday to share her experience, leaving many of her fans and followers stunned.
According to Iyabo Ojo, she was contacted by the anti-graft agency while she was in the United Kingdom, and she honored the invitation upon her return to Nigeria. On Monday, May 5, 2025, she appeared before the EFCC, where she was quizzed on various details, including her personal bio data, career, work experience, and companies.
However, what caught many by surprise was when the EFCC officials showed her a video extracted from her daughter’s recently concluded wedding ceremony, where guests were spraying naira and foreign currencies. The actress revealed that she was asked if she knew that spraying money was illegal, and she explained that she thought only the abuse or mutilation of the naira was an offense.
“I was surprised to learn that spraying any currency, including dollars, is also not allowed,” Iyabo Ojo stated in her post. “The EFCC officials clarified that spraying money, including on people’s bodies, is prohibited. I was asked to explain why I allowed such an act to take place at my daughter’s wedding, and I had to clarify that I was not aware of the law.”
The actress’s encounter with the EFCC has sparked a heated debate on social media, with many Nigerians expressing shock and surprise at the revelation. While some have commended Iyabo Ojo for being honest and transparent about her experience, others have criticized her for not being aware of the law.
As the news continues to spread, many Nigerians are taking to social media to share their thoughts and opinions on the matter. While some have praised Iyabo Ojo for her honesty, others have criticized the EFCC for targeting celebrities and not doing enough to address corruption in the country.
