Bala Ahmed did not make any economic arguments only subjective impression- morka

The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has responded to criticisms made by Hakeem Bala Ahmed, a former Minister of Works, on the state of the economy.
In an interview on Channels TV, Ahmed had expressed concerns about the current state of the economy, citing rising inflation and other economic challenges.
However, Morka dismissed Ahmed’s criticisms, stating that they were based on “anecdotes” and “personal opinion” rather than economic facts.
He argued that Ahmed’s comments did not constitute an economic argument, but rather a statement of opinion that could be shared by many people.
Morka defended the government’s economic policies, citing the decision to float the Naira and remove fuel subsidies as examples of “deep, far-reaching policy reforms” aimed at making the economy more competitive.
He acknowledged that these policies may have short-term consequences, such as higher inflation, but argued that they would ultimately lead to long-term benefits for the economy.
Morka seemed to suggest that the current high inflation rate was a necessary consequence of the government’s economic policies.
He stated that the removal of fuel subsidies and the floating of the Naira were meant to produce overall good down the road, even if they led to short-term challenges.
Morka also attacked Ahmed’s credibility, implying that his comments were not based on a thorough understanding of economic principles. He stated that Ahmed’s opinions were not “economics” but rather “personal opinion”, and that he did not respect such opinions.
