Senator Kingibe Under Fire over Uncomplimentary Statement Against Youth

Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory, has come under fire for her harsh words against Nigerian youths.

During a recent interview, Kingibe lambasted the younger generation, labeling them as “lazy” and “complacent” for their failure to take action and reclaim their country.

According to Kingibe, Nigerian youths are more interested in complaining and grumbling rather than engaging in constructive dialogue with politicians.

She emphasized the need for young people to rise up and demand change, rather than simply threatening strikes that never materialize.

“I have said it, Nigerian youths do nothing but complain. They are lazy. It is time they rise, confront politicians like Wike, and take back their country,” Kingibe stated.

Her comments were met with widespread criticism, with many accusing her of being out of touch with the struggles and concerns of young Nigerians.

Kingibe’s remarks were in response to questions about her advice to the Nigerian government, but she instead directed her message to the youth, urging them to take ownership of their country and demand accountability from their leaders. She emphasized the importance of constructive engagement, rather than mere criticism and insults.

The senator’s comments were not without examples, as she cited the lack of pressure from young people to reduce the cost of government. “Every year, what do you do to put pressure on the government? By telling them that they should? I haven’t seen a concerted complaint. I really haven’t,” she said.

Kingibe also challenged young people to provide concrete solutions to the country’s problems, rather than simply complaining about them. She offered an example of her own proposal to address youth unemployment, suggesting that the government provide farmlands and inputs to young people to encourage them to engage in agriculture.

However, her comments were met with skepticism by many, who argue that Kingibe’s own track record as a senator has been lacking in terms of delivering tangible results for her constituents. Critics point out that her remarks are a classic case of blaming the victim, and that she should instead focus on addressing the systemic issues that have led to the country’s current state.
