Obidike Carpets NANS President Isahover Attack on Seyi Tinubu
The Special Assistant to the President on Student Affairs, Obidike Chukwuebuka, has fired back at the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) President, Usman Umar, also known as Isah, over his recent criticisms of Seyi Tinubu’s support for the poor.
In a statement, Obidike described the accusations leveled against Seyi Tinubu as “baseless” and “unfounded”, stating that they would not deter the latter’s commitment to supporting the less privileged.
Seyi Tinubu, the son of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, has been in the news recently for his philanthropic efforts, particularly in the area of poverty alleviation. However, his efforts have been met with criticism from some quarters, including the NANS President, who has accused him of trying to buy the votes of students.
But Obidike has come to Seyi Tinubu’s defense, stating that his support for the poor is genuine and not politically motivated. “Seyi Tinubu’s commitment to supporting the poor and vulnerable is unwavering, and no amount of baseless accusations will stop him from continuing to do so,” he said.
Obidike also took a swipe at the NANS President, accusing him of trying to politicize the issue and undermine Seyi Tinubu’s good intentions. “It is unfortunate that the NANS President has chosen to politicize this issue, rather than acknowledging the good work that Seyi Tinubu is doing to support the poor and vulnerable,” he said.
The controversy surrounding Seyi Tinubu’s support for the poor has sparked a heated debate on social media, with some Nigerians praising his efforts and others criticizing him for trying to buy votes.
However, Obidike has insisted that Seyi Tinubu’s support for the poor is not about politics, but about making a positive impact on the lives of those in need. “Seyi Tinubu’s support for the poor is not about buying votes or scoring political points, but about making a real difference in the lives of those who need it most,” he said.
In a statement, Seyi Tinubu’s office said, “We are committed to continuing our support for the poor and vulnerable, despite the baseless accusations and criticisms. We believe that everyone deserves access to basic necessities like food, shelter, and education, and we will continue to work towards making that a reality.”
The development has sparked reactions from various stakeholders, with some calling on the NANS President to apologize for his comments and others praising Seyi Tinubu for his commitment to supporting the poor.
