Igbo Will Give Tinubu Over 70% of Votes in 2027, Predicts Deputy Speaker Kalu
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will receive over 70% of votes from the South-East region in the 2027 general elections.
Kalu made this prediction while commending President Tinubu for signing the South-East Development Commission (SEDC) Bill into law.
According to him, the President’s actions have demonstrated a strong commitment to the progress of the region, earning him increasing goodwill among the Igbo people.
“President Tinubu has shown unprecedented commitment to the South-East. His actions have gone beyond political promises, and the people are witnessing tangible developments that were long overdue,”Kalu said.
He described the establishment of the SEDC as a landmark move aimed at addressing decades of neglect, including post-civil war reconstruction and environmental challenges such as erosion, which have plagued the region for years.
The Deputy Speaker also pointed to the growing number of South-East political leaders and constituents aligning with the All Progressives Congress (APC), attributing the shift to the President’s inclusive governance style and the impact of developmental projects in the region.
“The Igbo are watching, and they are responding positively. If elections were held today, President Tinubu would get more than 70% of the votes in the South-East,” Kalu asserted.
He urged the Igbo community to support the current administration, emphasizing that continued collaboration with the federal government is essential for sustainable development and national integration.
Kalu’s statement signals a significant political message ahead of the 2027 elections, as the APC seeks to consolidate its gains in the traditionally opposition-leaning South-East. With the implementation of the SEDC and other development-oriented policies, the Tinubu administration appears keen on deepening its political roots in the region.
