Tinubu Reiterates Dedication to Workers’ Welfare in May Day Address

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of Nigerian workers, as the nation marked International Workers’ Day.

In a statement released by the State House, President Tinubu acknowledged the vital role of Nigerian workers in driving national development, stating that their dedication, resilience, and sacrifices are the backbone of the country’s economic and social progress.

“As we celebrate this year’s Workers’ Day, I salute the courage and contributions of Nigerian workers across all sectors. Your hard work remains central to our journey towards a stronger, more inclusive, and prosperous Nigeria,” the President said.

He assured workers that his government remains focused on implementing policies that enhance job security, fair wages, and safe working conditions. Tinubu highlighted ongoing reforms aimed at boosting productivity, investing in skills development, and expanding employment opportunities, particularly for the youth.

The President also called for unity and continued dialogue between labor unions and the government, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in resolving industrial disputes and achieving lasting progress.

Labour leaders across the country welcomed the President’s message but also urged the government to match words with action, especially in addressing issues of inflation, wage adjustments, and improved living conditions.

This year’s Workers’ Day was marked by rallies and events in major cities, where workers pressed for better pay, pension reforms, and greater accountability in the public and private sectors.

President Tinubu concluded his message with a renewed pledge: “My administration stands firmly with Nigerian workers. Together, we will build a nation where hard work is rewarded and every citizen has the opportunity to thrive.
