Tinubu Goes on One-Day Working Visit to Katsina State

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to pay a one-day working visit to Katsina State on Friday, May 2, 2025, marking his first official visit to the North-Western state since assuming office in May 2023.

The visit is expected to highlight ongoing developmental efforts and strengthen collaboration between the federal and state governments, particularly in addressing the region’s security and economic challenges.

According to Dr. Bala Salisu-Zango, Katsina State Commissioner for Information, President Tinubu’s itinerary includes the commissioning of two key infrastructure and development projects executed by the administration of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.

The first is the newly completed Eastern Bypass, a major road project designed to ease traffic congestion and improve intra-state connectivity.

The bypass runs from Dutsin-Ma Road, cuts across Kano and Daura Roads, and extends to Yandaki in Kaita Local Government Area. The infrastructure is expected to enhance trade, transportation, and overall economic activity in the state.

The second project slated for commissioning is the Agricultural Mechanisation Centre, a facility aimed at revolutionizing farming practices in Katsina through the use of modern, mechanised agricultural technologies.

The centre forms part of Governor Radda’s broader strategy to improve food security, boost agricultural productivity, and create employment opportunities for the youth.

Commissioner Salisu-Zango emphasized that President Tinubu’s visit also offers an opportunity to address pressing issues in the state, particularly the escalating security concerns in several local government areas. “This visit is not only ceremonial but strategic, as it will provide a platform for high-level discussions between the state and federal government on improving the security architecture of Katsina,” he said.

He also called on residents of Katsina State to come out en masse to welcome the President, assuring the public that adequate security measures are in place to ensure a peaceful and orderly environment throughout the visit.

Governor Radda, in a statement ahead of the visit, expressed confidence that the President’s presence would reinforce the state’s commitment to development and enhance partnerships aimed at addressing both immediate and long-term challenges.

“This visit reflects the President’s responsiveness and support for our developmental agenda and our joint efforts to secure the lives and livelihoods of our people,” the governor stated.

The one-day visit is being closely watched as a signal of renewed federal engagement in Northern Nigeria and a potential boost to ongoing efforts to restore peace and stimulate growth in the region.
