Remo Stars Football Club has made history by winning their first-ever Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title, marking a significant milestone for the Ikenne-based team and Nigerian football as a whole.
The club, founded in 2010, clinched the 2024/25 NPFL championship after a decisive final-day victory, sealing their dominance in one of the most competitive seasons in recent years.
As a reward for their title-winning campaign, Remo Stars will receive a prize of ₦200 million (approximately $125,000), the highest ever in the league’s history. This increment, announced earlier in the season by the NPFL leadership, is aimed at enhancing competitiveness and rewarding excellence in the domestic league.
Remo Stars, owned by entrepreneur Kunle Soname, have not only excelled on the pitch but also off it, demonstrating strong financial management and talent development. From 2023 to 2024, the club earned over $1 million in transfer fees from player sales — a major financial boost that reflects its growing reputation as a hub for developing top-tier talent.
Notably, deals such as the move of midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro to Inter Milan and winger Shola Ogundana to Flamengo contributed significantly to this revenue.
