The Kano State Government has approved a massive N51.5 billion for infrastructure enhancement across the state, in a bid to boost economic growth and improve the standard of living of its citizens.
The approval, which was announced yesterday, is part of the government’s efforts to address the state’s infrastructure deficit and create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
According to a statement released by the state government, the funds will be utilized to execute various infrastructure projects, including the construction and rehabilitation of roads, bridges, and other critical infrastructure.
The state government revealed that the projects are aimed at improving the overall infrastructure landscape of the state, enhancing the quality of life of residents, and stimulating economic growth.
Some of the key projects expected to be executed with the approved funds include the construction of new roads and highways to ease transportation and reduce travel time, rehabilitation of existing roads and bridges to improve safety and reduce maintenance costs, provision of modern amenities such as streetlights, drainage systems, and pedestrian walkways, and development of new infrastructure in rural areas to bridge the urban-rural divide.
The state government has assured that the projects will be executed in a transparent and accountable manner, with strict adherence to international best practices and standards.
Reacting to the development, the state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, expressed his commitment to transforming the state’s infrastructure, saying “We are determined to make Kano State a hub for commerce and industry, and this investment in infrastructure is a critical step towards achieving that goal.”
