Edo State Government Demolishes Building Linked to Kidnapping, Organ Harvesting

In a bid to intensify its clampdown on kidnapping and cult-related crimes, the Edo State government has demolished a residential duplex in Benin City allegedly used for kidnapping and organ harvesting.

The demolition was carried out in line with the recently amended anti-kidnapping and cultism law.

According to the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Fred, the demolition is just the beginning of a series of actions to be taken against properties linked to criminal activities.

“More properties will be pulled down in the coming days,” he warned while addressing journalists after the demolition.

The owner of the demolished property, Martin Ogenewere, expressed shock and disappointment upon learning that his 28-year-old son was involved in the heinous crime. The son, who has been arrested and is facing trial, allegedly murdered a woman and harvested her sensitive organs in the demolished building.

Ogenewere, who claimed to have had no knowledge of his son’s involvement in the crime, stated that he built the house with his sweat and was devastated to see it demolished due to his son’s actions.

“It’s just so unfortunate that amongst my five children, my second son is the one that has given me this problem, that has put me in this mess,” he said.

The Edo State government has made it clear that it will leave no stone unturned in its fight against kidnapping and cultism, and that anyone involved in such activities will face the full wrath of the law.

The demolition of the building is seen as a significant step in this direction, and it is expected that more properties linked to criminal activities will be demolished in the coming days.

The incident has sent a strong message to those involved in kidnapping and cultism in the state, and it is hoped that it will serve as a deterrent to others who may be contemplating such crimes.

The Edo State government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its citizens, and it is taking concrete steps to achieve this goal.
