Okon Lagos Carpets EFCC, Querying if Abuse of Dollar in Nigerian Soil is an Offence

Popular comic actor, Okon Lagos, has reacted to reports of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arresting socialite, E-Money, over alleged naira and dollar abuse.

In a statement that has gone viral on social media, Okon Lagos questioned the rationale behind the EFCC’s actions, asking if it was wrong for E-Money to “abuse” the dollar on Nigerian soil.

The actor’s comments were in response to reports that E-Money, whose real name is Emeka Okonkwo, was arrested by the EFCC for allegedly abusing the naira and dollar.

According to Okon Lagos, if E-Money’s actions were indeed wrong, then the same standard should be applied to the dollar, which he claimed “abuses” the naira on a daily basis.

“Why not prioritize incarcerating bad, corrupt leaders who ruin the economy and at the same time are cheerleaders while the dollar constantly abuses and pummels the naira?” Okon Lagos asked in his statement.

The actor’s comments have sparked a heated debate on social media, with many Nigerians weighing in on the issue. While some have expressed support for Okon Lagos’ views, others have argued that the EFCC has a responsibility to enforce the law and prevent currency abuse.

The EFCC has not officially confirmed E-Money’s arrest, but sources close to the commission have indicated that he has been released though the socialite is being investigated for alleged currency abuse and other financial crimes.

Okon Lagos’ comments have also raised questions about the state of the Nigerian economy and the role of the EFCC in enforcing financial regulations.

The actor’s statement has been interpreted by some as a critique of the government’s handling of the economy and its failure to address the root causes of corruption and financial instability.
