FG Pledges More Funding for FRSC, Charges Them to Reduce Carnage on Roads

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has been tasked with stepping up its efforts to reduce accidents on Nigerian roads, with the government promising to provide the necessary support in terms of funding and logistics.

The call was made by the FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, during an official visit to Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

Mohammed emphasized the need for FRSC personnel to redouble their efforts in reducing road traffic crashes across the country.

According to the Corps Marshal, President Bola Tinubu has assured the FRSC of prompt release of funding, particularly for the training of personnel, in line with his directive to reduce road traffic crashes.

Mohammed stated that the President’s commitment to reducing accidents on Nigerian roads is unwavering, and that the FRSC is expected to play a key role in achieving this goal.

“We are committed to reducing road traffic crashes in Nigeria, and we will do everything possible to achieve this goal,” Mohammed said. “The President has assured us of his support, and we are grateful for his commitment to this cause.”

The Corps Marshal also promised that the FRSC will prioritize regular training and retraining of its personnel to ensure that they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively carry out their duties. This, he said, will enable them to respond promptly and effectively to emergencies and prevent accidents from occurring in the first place.

Mohammed’s visit to Ilorin is part of a nationwide tour aimed at assessing the FRSC’s operations and identifying areas where improvements can be made. During the visit, he met with FRSC personnel and other stakeholders, including traditional rulers and community leaders, to discuss ways to enhance road safety in the state.

The FRSC has been working tirelessly to reduce accidents on Nigerian roads, and the government’s promise of support is expected to boost the Corps’ efforts. With the President’s directive to reduce road traffic crashes, the FRSC is poised to intensify its operations and make Nigerian roads safer for all users.

In a statement, the FRSC said that it will continue to work closely with the government and other stakeholders to achieve its goal of reducing accidents on Nigerian roads. “We are committed to making Nigerian roads safer, and we will do everything possible to achieve this goal,” the statement said.

The FRSC’s efforts to reduce accidents have been yielding positive results, with a significant decrease in road traffic crashes recorded in recent years. However, more needs to be done to achieve the desired level of road safety, and the Corps is expected to continue working hard to achieve this goal.
