City Boy Movement Vows to Mobilize Five Million Youths for President Tinubu’s Re-election
The City Boy Movement, a youth-based supporters’ group loyal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has pledged to mobilize five million Nigerian youths in support of the president’s possible re-election bid.
The announcement was made on Monday during a gathering of the group’s leadership in Abuja. The group emphasized its commitment to rallying young Nigerians behind Tinubu, whom they described as a visionary leader with a proven track record in governance and youth development.
“Our goal is clear — to galvanize at least five million Nigerian youths across the country in support of President Tinubu. We believe in his leadership and in his ongoing efforts to secure a brighter future for the younger generation,” the group stated.
Although President Tinubu has not officially declared his intention to run for a second term in 2027, the movement said it is laying the groundwork early, in anticipation of a formal declaration.
The City Boy Movement rose to prominence during the 2023 general elections, playing a visible role in youth mobilization for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The group said its current campaign will focus on political education, grassroots engagement, and digital outreach aimed at increasing youth participation in the democratic process.
Political observers note that with over 60% of Nigeria’s population under the age of 30, youth support will be a decisive factor in future elections. The City Boy Movement’s ambitious target signals the beginning of what is expected to be an intense political season ahead of 2027.
The group called on other youth organizations to join in efforts aimed at national development, stating that political engagement remains one of the most powerful tools young Nigerians can use to shape their future.
President Tinubu’s administration continues to face mixed reactions from various quarters, but the City Boy Movement insists that his policies, especially those focused on economic reforms and youth empowerment, deserve continuity.
