Adopt Proactive Approach to Addressing Insecurity, Agbo Charges Military
Hon. Isaac Agbo, a prominent Nigerian lawmaker, has emphasized the need for the nation’s military to adopt a more proactive approach in addressing the country’s security challenges.
Speaking at a recent security summit in Abuja, Hon. Agbo stressed that the current reactive approach to security threats has not yielded the desired results, and it is time for a paradigm shift.
“The Nigerian military must be proactive, not just reactive, in tackling the security challenges facing our nation,” he said.
According to Hon. Agbo, a proactive approach would involve anticipating and preventing security threats before they escalate, rather than responding to them after they have occurred. This, he believes, would require a more strategic and intelligence-driven approach to security operations.
“We need to move away from the traditional approach of responding to security threats after they have happened,” Hon. Agbo said. “Instead, we should be anticipating and preventing these threats from occurring in the first place.
This requires a more proactive and strategic approach to security operations, leveraging intelligence gathering, surveillance, and community engagement.”
Hon. Agbo’s call to action has been welcomed by security experts and stakeholders, who believe that a proactive approach is long overdue. “The Nigerian military has the capacity and capability to adopt a more proactive approach to security,” said security analyst, Dr. Abubakar Mohammed. “What is needed is the political will and the strategic direction to make it happen.”
The Nigerian military has been grappling with a range of security challenges, including Boko Haram insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping. While the military has made significant progress in recent years, the security challenges persist, and there is a growing consensus that a new approach is needed.
Hon. Agbo’s call for a proactive approach is seen as a timely reminder of the need for innovative and effective solutions to Nigeria’s security challenges. As the nation continues to grapple with these challenges, it is hoped that the military will take heed of Hon. Agbo’s advice and adopt a more proactive approach to securing the country.
