I’m Not Responsible for Your Woes Borne Out of Incompetence, Tinubu Fires Opposition

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has lashed out at opposition parties, accusing them of failing to manage their internal affairs and unfairly blaming his administration for their shortcomings.

Speaking at a public event in Abuja on Monday, Tinubu said, “Don’t blame me for your incompetence to manage your affairs,” a statement that immediately sparked reactions across political circles.

The President’s comments come amid mounting criticism from key opposition parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP), who have accused the Tinubu administration of poor economic management and worsening insecurity.

Tinubu, however, defended his government’s policies, insisting that his administration remains committed to stabilizing the country and driving reforms. He criticized opposition leaders for, according to him, focusing more on propaganda than providing credible alternatives or meaningful leadership within their own ranks.

“They have failed to organize themselves effectively, yet they point fingers at a government that is diligently working to reposition the country,” Tinubu said.

The remark has further intensified the political rivalry between the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and opposition parties ahead of upcoming regional elections. Analysts suggest Tinubu’s blunt message could signal a new, more aggressive tone from the presidency toward critics.

At the time of filing this report, major opposition figures had not officially responded to Tinubu’s statement.

Tinubu concluded his address by calling for unity and focus on national development, saying, “It is time to put Nigeria first and end the politics of blame.”
