Governor Sani Hails Tinubu Over Ajayi’s Appointment as DSS Arrests 54 Suspects in Kaduna

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the appointment of Mr. Oluwatosin Ajayi as Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), citing recent security breakthroughs in the state as evidence of strengthened leadership.

Governor Sani’s commendation came on the heels of a major security operation carried out by the DSS in Kaduna, which led to the arrest of 54 individuals suspected of involvement in various criminal activities, including banditry, arms trafficking, kidnapping, and cybercrime.

The arrested suspects include eight bandits, 22 informants, four gunrunners, two human traffickers, four cyber fraudsters, two vandals, and 12 family members of known bandits. Notably, a serving security operative from Zamfara State was detained for allegedly diverting 217 rounds of ammunition meant for anti-banditry missions, intending to sell them for ₦4 million.

Security operatives also intercepted vehicles transporting large quantities of arms and ammunition to volatile areas across Kaduna, Katsina, and Zamfara States. The operation resulted in the recovery of five AK-47 rifles, a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), three Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) launchers, and over 5,000 rounds of ammunition. Additionally, 79 kidnap victims were rescued and have since been placed under the care of the Kaduna State Government.

Speaking through the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Sule Shuaibu (SAN), Governor Sani expressed deep appreciation for the professionalism and efficiency displayed by the DSS under Ajayi’s leadership. He emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration among all security agencies to consolidate recent gains and maintain peace across the region.

“These successful operations are a clear indication that under President Tinubu’s guidance and Mr. Ajayi’s leadership, the DSS is reinvigorated and fully committed to dismantling criminal networks that threaten the peace and stability of our communities,” Governor Sani stated.

The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies in the fight against terrorism, banditry, and other forms of criminality across Kaduna State.

This development marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to restore security in northern Nigeria, signaling a renewed momentum in the federal government’s fight against organized crime.
