Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, Former PDP VP Candidate, Ifeanyi Okowa, Formally Defect to APC

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has officially welcomed Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State and former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa, into the APC fold.
The APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, expressed the party’s delight at the decision of Governor Oborevwori and Okowa to join the ruling party, stating that the APC will provide full cooperation and accommodation to the new members.
Morka noted that this development marks a significant milestone for the APC, as Delta State is now officially an APC state.
The defection of Okowa, a former governor of Delta State, was made public on Wednesday, following a meeting at the Delta State Government House in Asaba. Okowa explained that his decision to defect to the APC was not a wrong step, but rather a deliberate choice to take the best direction for the people of Delta State.
“Be assured that we will not go in the wrong direction. We will take the best direction, the best path for our people,” Okowa said.
Similarly, Governor Oborevwori also dumped the PDP for the APC, following a meeting with leaders and stakeholders of the PDP in the state. The APC has assured Oborevwori and Okowa of its fullest cooperation and support, as they join the party.
This development is seen as a major boost to the APC, as it strengthens the party’s presence in the South-South region. The APC’s National Working Committee, under the leadership of Ganduje, has welcomed the new members, stating that the party is committed to working together to achieve the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
With this defection, Delta State is now poised to contribute maximally to the success and realization of the APC’s agenda, and to the enduring good and prosperity of Deltans and all Nigerians.
The APC has expressed its confidence that the new members will bring their wealth of experience and expertise to the party, and work together to build a stronger and more united Nigeria.
