South Africa’s Cup Golf Tournament Returns to Lagos May 4

Excitement is building as the third edition of the South Africa’s Cup golf tournament gets set to hold on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at the prestigious Ikoyi Club 1938 in Lagos.

The event promises a thrilling day of sport, friendship, and business networking, bringing together amateur golfers from Nigeria and South Africa.

The tournament, which marks part of the celebrations for South Africa Week, honors 31 years of South African democracy. Over the years, it has evolved into more than just a golf competition it’s now a strong platform for strengthening ties between the two nations both on and off the golf course.

Players from across different sectors, including top executives, entrepreneurs, and community leaders, are expected to participate. The friendly rivalry on the greens aims to encourage deeper business relationships, cultural exchange, and collaboration between Nigerians and South Africans.

Organized by Crossflex Nigeria Limited, the event enjoys the backing of major brands like AB InBev, Glenfiddich, FoodCo, Pepsi, and Mikano Motors, among others. Their support reflects the growing importance of sports as a bridge for economic and social cooperation across Africa.

Speaking ahead of the event, South Africa’s Consul General in Nigeria, Bobby Moore, described the South Africa’s Cup as a valuable initiative. He said the tournament highlights the friendship between two of Africa’s leading economies and provides a relaxed but impactful setting for important conversations and future partnerships.

With anticipation growing among the golfing community, the May 4 tournament is set to deliver not just memorable sporting moments, but also stronger ties between Nigeria and South Africa on the fairway and beyond.
