Oborevwori Promises Improved Funding as DELSU Graduates 6,401

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has pledged increased support for Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, as the institution celebrated the graduation of 6,401 students during its 16th convocation ceremony.

Addressing the gathering at the university’s main campus, Governor Oborevwori reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to advancing education in the state.

He praised the management and staff of DELSU for maintaining high academic standards and assured that his government would continue to provide the necessary infrastructure and funding to enhance learning and research.

“Education is at the heart of our M.O.R.E Agenda. We are determined to strengthen DELSU and ensure it competes favorably with the best universities globally,” Oborevwori stated.

The Governor also commended the graduands for their achievements and urged them to be good ambassadors of the university and Delta State. He encouraged them to pursue excellence, innovation, and integrity in their future endeavors.

Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Andy Egwunyenga, highlighted the institution’s recent achievements, noting that 106 students graduated with First Class honors. He expressed gratitude to the state government for its ongoing support, which he said had contributed significantly to DELSU’s steady growth.

The convocation ceremony also featured the conferment of honorary degrees on distinguished individuals in recognition of their contributions to the development of society.

Governor Oborevwori’s pledge is seen as a major boost for the university’s aspirations to attain greater academic prominence and infrastructure expansion in the coming years.
