National Assembly Complex Roof Not Leaking, Says Laralek MD
The Managing Director of Laralek Ultimate Construction Company, Mr. Olalekan Adebiyi, has refuted recent media reports alleging roof leakages at the White House segment of the National Assembly Complex during a stormy downpour.
An online platform had earlier on Saturday claimed that the heavy downpour exposed serious flaws in the renovation work executed between 2022 and 2024 by Visible Construction Company, a subsidiary of Laralek Ultimate Construction Company.
The report further alleged that some National Assembly staff lamented the situation, suggesting that if the N38 billion renovation project had been handled by Julius Berger, the issue of leakage would not have occurred. It also insinuated that the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), which awarded the contract to Visible Construction Company, may have been compromised.
In a telephone conversation with journalists covering the National Assembly, Mr. Adebiyi dismissed the allegations as baseless and misleading. He asserted that a thorough investigation conducted by the company revealed no incidents of roof leakage within the White House section of the complex.
According to him, the renovation included the application of a specialized roof sealant imported from the United States of America, which he described as water-tight and highly durable. “The sealant applied to the roof is of the highest quality and specifically designed to prevent leakage. Our investigation confirmed that the integrity of the roofing work remains intact,” Adebiyi said.
He urged members of the public and stakeholders to disregard the misleading report, reaffirming Laralek Ultimate Construction Company’s commitment to delivering high-standard projects that meet both national and international specifications.
The N38 billion renovation of the National Assembly Complex has been one of the largest in recent years, aimed at addressing structural deficiencies and upgrading facilities within the historic legislative building.
