No Plans to Defect to APC, Says Zamfara Governor

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has denied rumors of his planned defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governor took to his official social media handles to set the record straight, reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the PDP.

In a statement posted on his verified Facebook and X handles, Governor Lawal described himself as a “bona fide member” of the PDP, urging the public to disregard the “fake news” being spread by detractors.

The governor’s clarification comes on the heels of widespread speculation alleging that he was considering a move to the APC, a rumor that had been gaining traction in recent days.

“I am Dauda Lawal, a bona fide member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Disregard the fake news from detractors determined to distract us from the RESCUE MISSION we have embarked on,” the governor stated. His use of the term “RESCUE MISSION” refers to his administration’s ongoing efforts to address the various challenges facing Zamfara State, including insecurity, poverty, and underdevelopment.

The governor’s statement has been seen as a bold move to reassure his supporters and the people of Zamfara State of his commitment to the PDP and its ideals. By publicly debunking the defection rumors, Governor Lawal has demonstrated his focus on delivering the mandate given to him by the people, rather than getting bogged down by political distractions.

As the political landscape in Nigeria continues to evolve, Governor Lawal’s statement serves as a reminder of the importance of loyalty and commitment to one’s political ideals. With the 2027 general elections looming on the horizon, the PDP will be looking to retain its stronghold on Zamfara State, while the APC will be seeking to make inroads into the state’s politics.

For now, it appears that Governor Lawal has put the defection rumors to rest, and his focus remains firmly on delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Zamfara State.
