Nigerian Breweries Inaugurates Kaduna Maltina Skills Acquisition Centre

Nigerian Breweries Plc has inaugurated the Maltina Skills Acquisition Centre in Kakuri, Kaduna State.

The facility is a flagship initiative under the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, aimed at reducing unemployment and boosting entrepreneurship across Nigeria.

The center, a state-of-the-art vocational training hub, is designed to offer young people and women practical skills in various trades, including tailoring, catering, shoemaking, hairdressing, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, praised the initiative as a strategic investment in human capital development. She emphasized that the project directly supports the state’s developmental objectives, especially in the areas of youth skill acquisition and economic inclusion.

“The impact of this center will extend far beyond its walls. As these young people gain skills and economic independence, they will contribute to the growth of our local economy, strengthen their communities, and inspire others to follow similar paths of self-development,” Dr. Balarabe said.

The Managing Director of Nigerian Breweries Plc, Hans Essaadi, highlighted the broader vision behind the project, explaining that the center is part of the company’s longstanding dedication to improving lives in the communities where it operates.

“Unemployment and underemployment remain significant challenges, particularly among our youth and women. The Maltina Skills Acquisition Centre addresses these critical challenges by empowering individuals with practical and marketable solutions, enhancing self-reliance, fostering entrepreneurship, and contributing to broader economic growth,” Essaadi stated.

He further urged beneficiaries to see the program not just as a one-time opportunity, but as the beginning of a transformative journey toward personal development and financial independence.

The Emir of Zazzau, represented by the District Head of Makera, Alhaji Shehu Tijani, applauded Nigerian Breweries for its enduring support to the Kaduna community. He acknowledged the company’s multiple empowerment programs and its over six decades of partnership with local stakeholders.

“This center is another milestone in the legacy of Nigerian Breweries’ support for our community. We are grateful for their commitment to our people’s progress,” Alhaji Tijani remarked.

The Maltina Skills Acquisition Centre is expected to significantly reduce unemployment in the region by turning job seekers into job creators, while promoting inclusive economic participation among underserved populations. Nigerian Breweries says it will continue to explore similar initiatives across Nigeria as part of its broader sustainability strategy.

The launch marks not just the opening of a building, but the beginning of new opportunities for countless individuals looking to improve their futures through skill acquisition and entrepreneurship.
