2027: Baba-Ahmed, Buba Galadima Can’t Stop Tinubu, Says Illiyasu Kwankwaso

Executive Director (Finance), Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, Dr. Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso has stated that prominent northern figures such as Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed and Buba Galadima lack the political clout to halt Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Kwankwaso declared that the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and other northern elites have no significant influence to sway the outcome of the 2027 elections.
“The Arewa Consultative Forum has no political value or influence to stop President Bola Tinubu from winning massively in the northern part of Nigeria,” he said.
Kwankwaso urged northern politicians and stakeholders to shelve their ambitions until 2031, emphasizing that Tinubu’s leadership has brought tangible benefits to the region.
He further criticized notable figures such as Solomon Dalung, Najaatu Muhammad, and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, dismissing their political relevance and accusing them of failing to advance northern interests.
This comes in response to recent commentary by Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), who suggested that the North is unlikely to present a united political front in 2027.
“We are not in the church; we are not in the mosque. Why should we speak with one voice? That is democracy,” Galadima said in an earlier interview.
Political analysts suggest that the northern region is currently experiencing a fragmentation of alliances, with several factions vying for influence ahead of the next electoral cycle. Kwankwaso’s comments underscore the growing tension between supporters of the current administration and opposition figures seeking to reassert northern dominance.
As 2027 approaches, the political chessboard is being redrawn, with major players repositioning themselves for what promises to be a fiercely contested election.
