South East No Longer Marginalised, Tinubu Has Broken the Jinx Says Umahi

Nigeria’s Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has praised President Bola Tinubu for shattering the long-standing marginalization of the South-East region in the country’s politics and infrastructure development.

Speaking at a civic reception in his honor, hosted by the Okposi Okwu community in Ebonyi State’s Ohaozara Local Government Area, Umahi hailed the President for ushering in a new era of inclusivity. The community recognized Umahi’s contributions to social harmony, economic empowerment, and infrastructure development in the area.

For decades, the South-East region has felt politically and infrastructurally neglected, despite being one of Nigeria’s three major ethnic groups. However, Umahi credited President Tinubu with “ending decades of exclusion” by ensuring an equitable distribution of resources across all six geo-political zones.

Umahi’s appointment as Minister of Works, a first in Nigeria’s post-independence history, symbolizes a significant shift towards greater inclusion. He also pointed to the numerous ongoing road infrastructure projects in the South-East as evidence of the President’s commitment to addressing historical imbalances.

The Minister urged the region to rally behind President Tinubu in the 2027 general election as a show of appreciation for his efforts. The reception was attended by key political figures, including Governors Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State, Peter Mbah of Enugu State, and Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State.

According to a statement issued by Umahi’s Special Adviser on Media, Uchenna Orji, the Minister thanked President Tinubu for “breaking the jinx of marginalization” in the South-East. Umahi’s comments suggest a new era of cooperation and development in the region, and a renewed sense of optimism about the future.
