President Tinubu Returns to Abuja After Visits to Paris and London

President Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria following a working trip to France and the United Kingdom, which has elicited a variety of responses from Nigerians. He was welcomed warmly at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on late Monday by high-ranking officials from his administration.
Eyewitnesses noted that the president appeared energetic and poised as he disembarked from the aircraft, despite the controversies surrounding his recent travels. Among those who greeted him were George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation; Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the president; Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser; and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, among others.
The discussions surrounding President Tinubu’s journey to Paris and London have sparked debate among Nigerians, particularly regarding the timing of his visit in light of escalating insecurity within the country. Nevertheless, the presidency has defended the trip, stating it was intended for reviewing the government’s achievements and enhancing diplomatic relations with European allies. Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga clarified in a statement that the visit was described as “a short working visit,” emphasizing that the president aims to return with innovative ideas and solutions for the nation’s issues.
Furthermore, another spokesperson, Daniel Bwala, refuted rumors suggesting that the president sought medical attention, asserting, “People often tweet without any knowledge of who they are; it could be someone struggling with mental health. Such information circulates without basis. The president’s trip was strictly for work, and we have been sharing updates on his engagements.”
