Northern Senators Preach Love, Forgiveness, Compassion at Easter

The Northern Senators Forum has extended heartfelt Easter greetings to all Christians and Nigerians across the country, urging the public to embody the spirit of the season by promoting love, forgiveness, compassion, and unity.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Forum, which comprises Senators from the 19 northern states, described Easter as a significant moment for reflection on the values of selflessness, sacrifice, and hope, which are deeply rooted in the life and resurrection of Jesus Christ. They emphasized that these values are not only vital for spiritual renewal but also essential for national healing and progress.

“Easter reminds us of the power of love and the triumph of hope over despair,” the statement read. “It is a time to forgive, to reach out to others with compassion, and to build bridges of understanding across our communities and nation.”

The senators acknowledged the current economic and security challenges facing many Nigerians but expressed confidence that the country would overcome its trials through collective effort, prayer, and responsible leadership. They called on Nigerians to remain resilient, united, and committed to peaceful coexistence, regardless of religious or ethnic differences.

“Now, more than ever, our nation needs healing and unity,” the Forum stated. “We call on all citizens to show more love to one another, support the less privileged, and foster peace in their communities. We also urge our fellow leaders to govern with integrity, compassion, and a sincere desire to serve.”

The Forum reaffirmed its commitment to enacting laws and supporting policies that promote the welfare, security, and development of all Nigerians, especially those in the northern region who have borne the brunt of insecurity and poverty.

As Christians across the world celebrate the resurrection of Christ, the Northern Senators Forum prayed for continued peace, stability, and prosperity for Nigeria, and wished everyone a joyful and meaningful Easter celebration.

“May this season of renewal inspire us to be better citizens and to work together for a stronger, more united Nigeria,” the statement concluded.
