North Behind Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election Bid,.Says Sule

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has reaffirmed the North’s commitment to supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Speaking at the 2025 Nzeh Mada Festival in Akwanga, Governor Sule emphasized that the region would not waver in its support for the President, despite criticism from some quarters.

According to Governor Sule, the North made a firm commitment to support Tinubu’s presidency in 2023, and it is imperative that the region honors its promise.

He urged stakeholders to disregard the agitation of a few politicians who are bent on causing confusion in the polity due to their failed personal ambitions.

The Governor’s statement comes on the heels of a communiqué signed by prominent members of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) bloc in the All Progressives Congress (APC), pledging their support for the Tinubu administration and its policies.

The communiqué was signed by former Nasarawa State Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, former Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari, and Minister of Education, Alhaji Adamu Adamu, among others.

In a related development, the North Central Renaissance Movement (NCRM) has expressed support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 polls.

The movement’s chairperson, Prof. Nghargbu K’tso, advocated that the North Central Zone should produce the President after 2027, citing the zone’s marginalization since the country’s independence.

Meanwhile, President Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, has dismissed claims by the Labour Party’s 2023 vice-presidential candidate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, that the President would not be re-elected in 2027. Dare described Baba-Ahmed’s remarks as “illogical and lacking substance,” adding that the President’s performance would “clear the path” for his re-election.

In a statement on his X account, Dare said: “Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed’s ‘illogical logic’ was all over the place in his recent interview with a television channel. He peddled arguments that were flawed, devoid of reason and empty… His political logic is not fit for even a first-year Political Science class, and even then, they will query his postulations.”

Dare also noted that the President’s performance has been acknowledged by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which recently stated that “Tinubu’s Reforms have put the economy in a better position to navigate this external environment.”

As the 2027 presidential election approaches, it is clear that the battle for the presidency will be fiercely contested. However, with the North’s pledge of support and the President’s demonstrated capacity to govern, it remains to be seen whether the opposition can muster enough support to unseat Tinubu.
